10th Annual Laguna Beach, Taste of the Nation

The 10th Annual Laguna Beach, Taste of the Nation will take place on Sunday, May 21st. Taste of the Nation will benefit No Kid Hungry. This year’s event is hosted by Fabio Viviani. Many celebrity chefs will be on site to make fresh farm to table creations with fine wine pairings and signature cocktails all set against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. There will be both a silent auction and a live auction and live entertainment from the local band, The Kalama Brothers. 3rd Annual Bike Rodeo and Road Safety Expo

 

Many potential buyers will check your house online or drive it by it prior to making an appointment to see it, so make sure the curb appeals draws them in. Also, potential buyers begin forming opinions about the house the minute they pull up to the curb, make sure they are positive opinions. Areas to pay attention to include cleaning out the gutters, this is just good home maintenance, which goes a long way during a home sale. Also, clean up all the winter debris, rake up leaves, remove dead plants and prune shrubs and trees.

 

 The 3rd Annual Bike Rodeo and Road Safety Expo will take place on Sunday, April 30th. The Bike Rodeo and Road Safety Expo is sponsored by the Laguna Beach Police Department. The expo will focus on keeping roadways safe for all users including cyclists, pedestrians and motorists. The Laguna Beach Police Department will continue to promote their “Vision Zero” programs aimed at having zero fatalities or serious injuries on Laguna Beach streets. There will be safety tips for parents, bike and bike helmet inspections and an obstacle course to practice safe bike riding techniques alongside a Laguna Beach Bike Patrol Officer. The Expo begins at 11am and continues until 2pm. This event is open to the public and is free to attend. This is a family friendly event. The Burnt Food Truck and Kona Ice will be on hand for refreshments. The Bike Rodeo is being held at 551 Forest Avenue in Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach Garden Club Speaker

 

When you are preparing your home for a home sale, spend some time doing a deep cleaning prior to listing it. Send out drapes and heavy curtains to have them professionally cleaned. Wash all the blinds, as well. Finally wash the windows both inside and outside. Don’t forget to clean the window sills and the casements of the windows to remove dust and cobwebs. If the weather cooperates, open the windows during open houses and showings, crisp, clean linens and fresh air, will make the home extremely inviting.

 

Laguna Beach Garden Club is having another installment in their popular Speaker Program. On Friday, April 14th their speaker will be Jeff Moore.  The program begins at 9:30am with a social gathering followed by the general meeting at 10am and the speaker at 10:30am. The program speaker, Jeff Moore is the owner of Solana Succulents in Solana Beach for the last 24 years. His program will be “Under the Spell of Succulents;” the discussion will include types of succulents, cultivation, use and container gardening. The Laguna Beach Garden Club is held at the Laguna Presbyterian Church located at 415 Forest Avenue in Laguna Beach. There is no charge for guests on their first visit. The Laguna Beach Garden Club meets the second Friday of the month, September through May. Glassblowing Class at Sawdust Art Festival

 

When getting your home ready to be listed on the real estate market, take the time to do a little planning on how best to show off the homes best features. Fireplaces are wonderful; buyers are looking for them, so make the most of yours. Create a seating area in front of the fireplace, add a great piece of art to the mantel or paint the wall the fireplace an accent color to make the fireplace pop. Add a champagne bucket and a two glasses to the coffee table. This will set the mood and show off one of your homes best features.

 

The Sawdust Art Festival is having a glassblowing class on Saturday April 1st and Saturday, April 8th. The festival offers many classes, including glassblowing, in many levels from beginner to advanced. There are two different glassblowing classes available: a two hour workshop and a four week course with a two hour class each week. Glass blowing classes will be taught by festival glass artists in the Glass Hut. The Sawdust Art Festival is located at 935 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach. The festival is open from 10am to 5pm. The class is $250 to participate in the 2 hour workshop session. You will work one on one with an instructor in the glass booth for the whole two hours. The four week class is $900. The four week session will teach you the basics of glass blowing and you will practice many forms and learn about color. You will go home with your own work of art from either glass blowing class. Laguna Beach is a beachside city and arts colony. This city is home to three major art festivals each year, a weekly art gallery walk, and has over 180 artists in residence. Hershey Felder at Laguna Playhouse

When you are selling your home, use staging to create vignettes to show potential buyers how you use certain spaces or to create an inviting atmosphere that potential buyers are sure to notice. In front of a fireplace, create a seating area and add a couple of champagne glasses and a champagne bucket to the coffee table. In the dining room, set the table for an elegant dinner party. From March 1st through March 26th, Hershey Felder will be performing at The Laguna Playhouse. Hershey Felder is a master pianist and gifted story teller. Felder has performed the works of many master composers, this performance will feature Tchaikovsky’s works. Tchaikovsky was a Russian composer whose works include the famous classical ballets Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and the Nutcracker. 6th Annual Laguna Bluebelt Photo Contest

When you have your home listed on the real estate market, keep it clean and fresh smelling, however keep perfume scents to a minimum. Many people/potential buyers are sensitive or allergic to perfumes and scents. Instead, clean your home thoroughly and have carpets professionally deep cleaned, this will go a long way in removing any existing smells. Keep pets well groomed and cooking smells to a minimum. Bake cookies or simmer cinnamon on the stove to add a pleasant and inviting scent to the home.

The 6th Annual Laguna Bluebelt Photo Contest is underway. Beginning on February 6th and ending on March 6th. The photo contest is organized by the Laguna Bluebelt Coalition. The contest is open to professionals and amateur photographers. Show your love of the ocean by submitting your photos to the contest. All submitted photos must be taken in the Laguna Marine Protected Areas between this year’s submission dates. Laguna Marine Protected Areas include areas from Abalone Point in North Laguna to Table Rock at 3rd Street in South Laguna. Photos will be judged by local photographers, after this judging takes place the “Best of the Rest” contest to allow the public to vote for their favorites. Valentine's Day Date Night Cooking Class

The first step when beginning the process of listing your home on the real estate market and the home sale process is to depersonalize and de-clutter the home. 2017 Laguna Beach Music Festival

Taking Measure Exhibit at Laguna Beach City Hall

Create a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for potential buyers when you are selling your home. Start by adding some extra lights, so the home is brightly lit. During the winter, warm up the interior by using colors such as crimsons, warm caramels and creams in the accessories. The Laguna College of Art of Design is presenting Taking Measure from Tuesday, January 24th through March 10, 2017. The MFA programs in Drawing and Painting are putting on this exhibit. This exhibit will have more than 20 original drawings and paintings by this year’s master’s candidates. This is the second annual installation of this type by Laguna College of Art and Design. The theme of exhibit is “pausing to assess one’s positions, beliefs, expectations and wishes.”  The exhibit will be installed at the Laguna Beach City Hall.  The Laguna Beach City Hall is located at 505 Forest Avenue. This exhibit is free to attend. The city hall is open from 7:30am to 6:30pm, Monday through Thursday and every other Friday from 7:30am to 4:30pm. Chapetti at Laguna Playhouse

The story follows as a friendship develops between a crazy cat lady and a depressed dog owner. The play stars Annabella Price and Mark Bramhall.  This production will be directed by David Ellenstien. The play was written by Christian O’Reilly.  The play is performed on Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
