Costa Mesa is a large city located in Orange County, California. Costa Mesa is conveniently situated 37 miles south of Los Angeles and 88 miles north of San Diego. The city’s southern border is just one mile from the Pacific Ocean. Costa Mesa is bordered by Newport Beach, Irvine and Huntington Beach. The city was incorporated in 1953 with a population of 15,000 people. Currently, the city has a population of 110,000 people and encompasses 16 square miles of land. Costa Mesa originally was a semi-rural farming town; it is now diverse city with an economy based on retail, commerce and light manufacturing. The city of Costa Mesa is made up of five unique sections: Central Costa Mesa, Eastside Costa Mesa, South Coast Metro and Southwest Costa Mesa. In addition, the district offers three alternative high schools, two which share one campus in Costa Mesa; Back Bay High School and Monte Vista High School, the third on its own campus is Coastline Early College High School. Costa Mesa also has 23 private schools that serve 3,600 students. There are several colleges and universities that call Costa Mesa home; Orange Coast College, Coastline Community College, Vanguard University, National University and Whittier Law School.
With year round gorgeous weather, Costa Mesa is a great place to enjoy the great outdoors. Costa Mesa is home to 28 community parks, miles of trails and two municipal golf courses. Fairview Park is a large city park with a wildlife and nature preserve and it hosts a summer concert series. The Costa Mesa Tennis Center offers activities from youth to adult. Newport Beach is close by with beach access.
